Through the advice and help of Harry Miller, George Barringer took his driving helmet and went to Indianapolis for the first time in 1931. He tried an old Deusenberg, but couldn't get it up to speed, and did not attempt to qualify it.
He continued to run in selected AAA races throughout the country.
